The 13th Vietnam Computer Electronics World Expo (VCEWE), the largest IT event in the country, kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on July 16.
The event is the most imposing display so far with over 200 leading local and foreign information technology (IT) corporations, including big names as Acer, Asus, Gigabyte, HP, Toshiba, Intel, Canon and Sony who showcase their latest products, services and technologies.
Worthy of note in the exposition is Intel’s introduction of Intel Centrino 2 processor technology for laptop which was launched at the same time in North America, Asia and the Pacific.
The 13th VCEWE is co-organised by the International Data Group (IDG) in Vietnam , the HCM City Information Technology Association and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Exhibition Services Co. Ltd (Vietcham Expo).
Lasting until July 19, the exhibition is expected to receive about 250,000 visitors.
At the event’s launch, IDG President Patrick Mc Govern said the group invested 120 million USD in Vietnam in 2008 and pledged another 500 million USD in next five years.
The VCEWE in 2009 will have its acreage increased by 65 percent in its new place at the Phu My Hung urban area.-
